I always wondered if Heineken honestly thought of the Red Star Soul series on their own… but not surprised that it really started in Atlanta.
This feature in Creative Loafing talks about FunkJazz Kafe, a concert series I never hear the end of because apparently I came to ATL “too late.” The creator Jason Orr is doing a documentary on it, and his conspiracy on how soul music was killed (which is very believable - the soul music being killed thing, that is).
From AlterNet, an article on how the diminish of net neutrality will diminish what surfers will find on up-and-coming musicians due to the future Internet toll road. It especially holds dear to artists who are very vocal on political and social issues, like Mistah Fab’s jawn on Oscar Grant (which is the opener of the article)…
An interesting read, I must say!
I am a sucker for politically-driven music, let alone musicians who take their voice into other mediums, like my boy from Rage Against The Machine does here.
This is how an artist lasts way beyond the release of their records.
I’m on the fence of whether or not this is totally true, or if the rapper is just pulling legs since Wyclef failed at doing it, but if he is then best of luck to him. I hope he doesn’t get caught up in being a politician, and that he fixes their transit because getting around the Chi could’ve been much better!!!
