I’m one of those people who lives in constant fear of being found out as not any good. Whenever I’m writing anything I’m just thinking “This is fucking shit, any minute now someone’s gonna come and slap this computer out of my hands.” And every week without fail, if I write a column, every week without fail I finish it and I go and I’ll turn around to my wife and she’ll go “How was that?” and I go “Just fucking shit, I’ve just written the worst piece of fucking shit anyone’s ever written, I’m such a cunt.” And then it’ll come out and people seem to think it’s okay, and so then I just think people are fucking idiots.

Permalink Was at One Music Festival yesterday, which was just about everything my dream concert lineup would be like! I was helping photographer Carolyn Grady cover the festival for Black Vibes, and she got this photo of me interviewing the one and only Jason Orr of the Funk Jazz Kafe/documentary. (P.S. if you click her name, you’ll see all these cool photos from the show, including Pharcyde, Anthony David and Chrisette Michelle!) P.S.Again. Yes, the photo is sideways, but Tumblr won’t let me fix that! :-P

Been working on this little West Side Story Feature….

This week, I’ve been digging around and doing hella research on the Jets and the Sharks (of West Side Story, not the vehicle and animal)…. I had to come up with 3-5 places the Jets guys would hang out and 3-5 places the Sharks girls would hang out because things would be more interesting if broken down that way… I put a lot of analyzing into such a small feature by watching endless clips and interviews, and my creative juices have been flowing like crazy on how this article will look!

But also, with all the Puerto Rican dishes I’ve discovered and the traditional American spots I’ve found in Atlanta, my hopes for a festive birthday weekend are super high… with the budget being super low.
